Every pixel, counted.
The site, by color.

Overall

The site is ground.

By project

Where the color lives.

Sorted by how much of each project is color rather than ground, gray or paper. Open a project to see its pages.

Method
  • Capture
  • CountedEverything a reader sees in the page body: ground, type, rules, images and video stills. The footer is left out, since it repeats on every page; the cursor dot at the centre of each screenshot is masked.
  • FamiliesNeutrals by lightness: Ground under 12, Graphite to 35, Gray to 70, Silver to 93, Paper above (CIE L*, chroma under 10). Color by hue angle in CIELAB: Amberine for red to orange, Sand for low-chroma warm tones, then Gold, Green, Aquamarine, Ultramarine, Violet and Magenta.
  • SwatchesNeutral keys show the measured median. Color keys show the system color for that family; the chips beside each project are its own most-used measured colors.
  • Long pagesJournal App, Playground and A Portrait were photographed at every other screen height, and each screenshot counts twice.
