Overview

Foundations named the colors and the type. Components made them into parts. Motion gives those parts the continuous, harmonic movement of a jellyfish in deep water, so color, type and interface move on a single pulse and adapt without a hard cut.

A jellyfish doesn't glide. It pulses.

Pulse is the beat Medusa's motion keys to, so color, type and interface swell, settle and glow on one rhythm instead of each moving on its own.

Pulse

Pulse is one of Medusa's motion pillars. Everything moves on one beat: it contracts, releases and rests.

Reel

The brief was to show how responsive the system is in a single reel. The answer was to let it drift like a jellyfish, never still and never abrupt, with the color arriving before the name.

Color

Each gradient ends on the hue where the next one begins. In motion, Aquamarine, Ultramarine, Fuschiarine and Amberine read as one continuum turning through the spectrum.

Type

Type enters on the same beat across four scripts, from Neue Haas Grotesk to Source Han Sans in Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Product

The pulse carries into product. A monthly dashboard draws its chart in, and the forecast is the only element set in gradient.

Collaboration

The work itself crossed hemispheres: designed in San José, animated in Campinas by Emanuel Peres. A turning globe pins collaborators to their cities, each tag lit like bioluminescence.

Data

Emphasis comes from glow, not weight. Bars rise and points settle, and anything that isn't the point dims back.

Stage

Every movement had to hold on black. Like bioluminescence, the glow only reads against negative space, even at the size of a stage.

Mark

The reel closes where Medusa begins, with the mark resolving out of the glow. This site moves on the same idea: one ease owns every page change and hover.
